where it all began

From Indian Nanny's Kitchen to Yours

Three generations at the dinner table — Natasha with her daughter and her grandmother, Indian Nanny

Namaste Nanny began with my grandmother.

She taught me to cook the food we still love today — simple, authentic Indian home cooking, made with everyday ingredients, a handful of basic spices and recipes passed down through our family.

There were no complicated techniques or endless lists of ingredients. It was simply good, honest, whole foods, cooked with love and made to be shared.

As the years passed, I realised how important it was to preserve those recipes and the memories that came with them. I promised to write her cookbook and that was the beginning of Namaste Nanny.

I wrote and designed the book myself, with the support of Nick England on the design, bringing together the dishes I grew up with and the recipes I now cook for my own family.

The majority of the cookery photos in the book are my own too — every dish cooked by me, photographed by me, and happily eaten by many.

nothing complicated

Simple Indian Home Cooking

Indian cooking can sometimes seem complicated, but it really doesn't have to be.

Most of the dishes in Namaste Nanny use the same seven basic spices, plus salt and oil, making it easy to build confidence in the kitchen without needing a cupboard full of specialist ingredients.

With 140 recipes, there is something for everyone — from everyday family meals and vegetable dishes to recipes for entertaining and sharing.

The book is mainly vegan, with vegetarian and non-veg options too.

Whether you already love Indian food or have never cooked it before, the recipes are written to be straightforward, achievable and enjoyable.

The Family Edition

The latest Namaste Nanny – Family Edition is particularly special to me.

Only 1,000 copies have been printed, creating a limited edition of a very personal family cookbook.

I have personally funded the writing, design, publishing and printing of the book because I wanted to use something that means so much to my family to help other families too.

My hope is that this limited edition will raise up to £10,000 for the famine crisis in India.

So when you buy a copy, you're not simply buying a cookbook.

You're helping a family story travel from one kitchen to another — while supporting a cause very close to my heart.

Made to be Used, Shared and Passed On

Namaste Nanny isn't about restaurant-style Indian cooking. It's home cooking as it's actually cooked at home — recipes meant to be splattered, dog-eared, cooked again and again, and handed down to the next generation.
